Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

DICTATION

Dictations

Activity to practice colours, body parts and clothes.

Colours dictation

Cut the text into sentences and place them around the room. Split the class into groups or pairs. Each group must have one runner and a designated writer.

The runner has to go around the room and read the sentences - commiting them to memory - they are not allowed to touch the paper, take the paper back to the group or shout the sentence across the room. Once they think they can remember the sentence they return to the group and repeat to them what it said.

Running dictation

Read the "sound" and tell students to write the two/three words.  

homophone dictations

Kids write what they listen to. They are parts of the face.

body dictation

Pupils get a map and then you (later the pupils) dictate the way - give directions.

Direction dictation

A teacher laminates and cuts out a set of cards and students put the cards in the right order according to the teacher´s reading.

Pronunciation-dictation

A classroom activity designed to train students'  listening comprehension

picture dictation

Dictation activity for ESL learners to take turns spelling words to their classmates and listening and taking notes of the words their classmates dictate too. 

It exercises both listening to the song of the letters as well as speaking.

Alphabet dictation

This is a partner activity.  Students practise, reading, speaking, listening and writing.
They are not allowed to show each other their sheets.  
They take it in turns dictating their sentence while their partner writes it down.  
When they finish they practise using the dialogue.  


Partner Dictation

Give students these sentences to write after hearing them spoken by you. Show just the picture to scaffold.  Use as jumping off point to talk about the differences between use of "must, have to, want to, and need to"
