This worksheet is adiitional material to the lesson plan "Success and Fame". Activity: Put a few pictures of super-famous, famous, and maybe not so famous people on the board. Ask learners some questions: Who are these people?

Are they successful? Ask learners to tell about one of the famous people on the picture about his / her success.

Activity: Give learners  a list of situations in which people have achieved something. Ask learners to decide which of the situations are examples of true success. Ask learners some questions about the situations:

1) If you were in the same situation, what would you choose: family or business?

2) Would you go back to school and pass your exams the same year after an accident?

3) Would you confess that you took performance enhancing drugs after winning Olympic gold?

4) Is it right to give the answers of the test in the morning? How do you think?

5) Would you lose your new job if you were a single mother and had 2 or 3 children?

6) What would you do if you won Oscar for your invention?

7) What would you discover if you were a scientist?

I would say this lesson plan is probably most suitable for upper intermediate (B2) students.

As you'll see in the lesson plan, students discuss topics such as the impact of fame and the media on professional athletes' mental health. They'll also learn some useful phrasal verbs that can be heard in the video, such as "pull out of", "cope with",  and "feel for". 



After watching the video and completing the first post-viewing section, there is a second post-viewing part that focuses on some grammar, featuring the difference between direct and indirect speech, and how we often shift direct speech back one tense when referring to what someone said or wrote in the past.
