A fill in the blank practice for 'to be', articles, and time/date in the context of conversations. Could also be used as a conversation prompt.

Conversation Gapfill

Students must unscramble 10 words related to Valentine's Day. Then they must fill in the blanks with the vocabulary learned in the sentences below the scrambled words. This is a test I created for A2/B1 teenagers. The grammar goal is passive voice in present and past tenses, and the topic is inventions. You will find two models, they are the same style of exercises, but you can give different sheets to your students to prevent cheating. Hope you find it useful!

This story includes idioms as well as set phrasal verbs.  Help your students to fill in the missing gaps using the words at the bottom of the page.  Talk to them about the differences between 'setback' as a noun (we cannot go to the beach, there has been a setback.) and 'set back' as a verb (how much did those shoes set you back? (cost) and 'setup' as a noun (I love your gaming setup) and 'set up' as a verb (I have set up the game for us to start playing).

The students complete the months with the correct spelling and then draw a picture which reminds them of each month, for example October they could draw something to do with Halloween, and December could be a Christmas picture, or they could draw a present for their birthday month. Can also be used to revise which months are which seasons.

The activity can be made more or less difficult by adding or removing gaps in the song lyrics.
