Test for beginners - 3 pages

An engaging worksheet to accompany the long awaited new song from Ed Sheeran. Encourage you students to try and predict which of the emboldened pair of words they will hear (using contextual clues, context, rhyming sounds etc.). Then on listening to the actual song (available free on YouTube) firstly have them check to see if they were correct and then circle the correct word. You may wish to pre / post - teach contextual vocabulary. Enjoy

An exercise to evaluate students' reading and understanding the use of silent letters in English word formations.  Some of the words used in this exercise are in gibberish, and have no meaning in English; they are used here only for the purpose of sounding in-line with the correct words.  This also checks the students' spelling abilities, and their accuracy in reading.  Mostly, this exercise comes to ensure the students' familiarity with silent letters in the English language, AFTER they have already gone over the topic learned the vocabulary.

I created these worksheets using phonetic symbols to give my students practice identifying different phonemes and to help them become familiar with some of the many ways we spell each sound.  I have tried to group the phonemes in each worksheet according to the sounds that students from different countries find difficult to differentiate. Enjoy.

Phoneme Sorting Sheets

Students can practise the Present Simple of the verbs "to be" and "have got". It contains 20 slides. All sentences are related to Homer's family and friends. It includes the famous Homer "woohot" sound for right answers and the "d'oh" sound for wrong answers.
