This activity focuses on gerunds.It has a brief discussion about how gerunds can be used in sentences. It has two parts.  The sentences used in this activity are contextualized.

Gerunds (V + V-ing)

Some more verbs that are followed by -ing:

enjoy, mind, suggested, stop, finish, recommend, consider, admit, deny, avoid, risk, imagine, fancy, postpone

Examples:

Suddenly everybody stopped talking. There was silence.

I’ll do the shopping when I’ve finished cleaning the flat.

He tried to avoid answering my question.

I don’t fancy going out this evening. (= I’m not enthusiastic about it)

Have you ever considered going to live in another country?

They said they were innocent. They denied doing anything wrong.

This worksheet helps students to make a brief review about how to convert verbs into gerund, how to form phrases using ing. Also it is linked to the Likes and Dislikes topic.

It contains a short explanation in Spanish but it can be modified into English

A verb -ing form that is used as a noun. Before completing the sentences, review the usage of the gerunds and the meaning of each gerund. English can have either gerunds and infinitives after certain verbs.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well
