This worksheet is meant for very young students. They look at the pictures that represent parts of someething.  They have to guess what it is. The words in the box can help. You can also use it as a game. The student who finds all the words first, is the winner.

Spring guessing

A paper version of the old boardgame. Using vocabulary!



Each student gets 2 pages, exactly the same. I usually staple them together. The front page will be used to take notes later.



On the second page the students draw 5 ships.



Air Craft Carrier (5 squares)

Battleship (4 squares)

Cruiser (3 squares)

Submarine (2 squares)

Patrol Boat (2 squares)



They can draw them where-ever they like vertically or horizontally. They CANNOT draw them diagonally or overlapping. Remind them to keep it a secret.



Once they finish drawing they should cover their paper. 



They will make pairs and play rock-paper-scissors. The loser/winner asks first.



They guess the location of their partner's ship by making a sentence. i.e. what is the weather forecast for tomorrow in Abashiri (or whatever place name you want to use.) 



Their partner will check their second page. If there is a ship they say 'hit' and the partner who asked will draw a circle on their memo paper. If there is no ship, they say 'miss' and the person who asked will draw an X on their memo paper.



Once all the squares of a ship are hit the student must say 'sunk'



The goal is to sink all 5 of their partner's ships.

Food guessing

Instructions on ws. In short it is about guessing what's on the card. Students ask questions that can only be answered with Yes/No by the card holder.

Guess My Word (Basic Vocabulary)

You can do a lot of activities with these flash cards. You may print them and cut into separate cards or use them like a vocabulary list to introduce and study new words or to practice spelling.



Also you may use these flash cards to play different vocabulary games like "guess what fruit I have" (one student has to describe fruit and his partner has to give an answer).

Grains and cereals

Just some common idioms about parts of the lower body. Your pupils/students can for instance discuss in groups what all the idioms mean. Several groups can get one part of the lower body each to discuss, and then present their \"findings\" for the rest of the class. Alternatively, they can go on the Internet to find out more, or they can even make small roleplays and make people guess.

Guess My Word (Miscellaneous 2)

This is a one-on-one speaking activity. Each participant has one copy of the worksheet. Student A decides what the first five people like (2 items per person), student B decides on the other five people's favourite food (see the example). They take turns to ask each other questions about the people they don't know about, e.g. "Does Lisa like strawberry? - Yes, she does./No, she doesn't". The first one to guess all ten foods correctly is the winner.

Battleships: Food and Present Simple questions revision

Practice seasons and month in different types of easy tasks: what comes before  after, what are the spring  the summer months, guess the month, name three, answer the questions. Students will write the names of the months many times and memorize them better. 

Seasons and months

First, they have to guess the animal, reading about it. Like physical description, and what can they do. They practice can and can't, and they are learning about those animals, knowing their abilities. They can say the questions, orally and work with a partner.

On the Farm

Perfect game for all ages. 15-25 min activity



You can use conditionals, or adapt it to any other level. 



Instuctions:



Print and cut out the cards. You should have every character in the deck. If you have a big class you can add another wolf and more villagers. 



The mail objective of the game is to find and kill the wolf. 



Give your students one card. They have to see what is their character. Then tell them to go to "sleep" Everyone should close their eyes (except for the girl, who can discretely see what everybody is doing). 



Call the wolf out and tell it to point a student to "eliminate". 



Now tell everybody to wake up. The studentes take turns and start voting, trying to guess who the wolf is. Let them speculate and ask them why they are voting for that classmate. 



For higher levels use conditionals. 

i/e: If Mary was killed, the wolf must / could / might be Joan. 



From the second round continue calling out the wolf first, then call the fortune teller (who can see a classmate's paper), the devil (can revive itself 2 times), the angel (can revive an ally 3 times), the minion (changes its paper with someone else), the witch (can swap 2 classmates' papers). Each of them point and try to be as discrete as they can so they don't get caught. 



I have played this game for years and kids and adults have a blast playing it!
