A selection of English ESL guess what printables

First page is a chart to introduce vocab. I also printed off pictures of resolutions and the SS had to guess from the list which they were. I then did a reading activity- other pages (different levels have been accounted for) then i did a speaking activity- ask each SS what is your new year's resolution?  I will..............

New Year's resolutions

in this exercise, students should only use the past simple and past continuous tense of the verbs provided in brackets and according to the rules their teachers have already presented to them and fill in the blanks. they could also ask questions about every picture or person in the picture and elicit as many questions as possible. The pictures could also be used to practise other tenses such as the present continuous tense.Eg. "what is Emma doing in picture 12?" Students could describe the pictures or their teachers could use them as flash cards and hand them out to their students who could then play a game. Eg."Guess what Emma is doing in my flash card".

Past Simple and Continuous

To encourage speaking. You need a large class for this activity - I had a group of 20. Divide students into shopkeepers and shoppers. The shopkeepers have an inventory and the shoppers need to try to buy everything on their lists by visiting each shop.

The shop keepers all have some strange 'extra' habit/character trait and the shoppers need to guess what it is.

Shopping challenge

A very funny game! It's a battle ship about "there is/there are". Firstly, students have to place their "squares" on their own home. Then, they have to ask their classmates what there is in their home (the enemy house) by saying, for example, "is there a fridge in your kitchen?". The first who guesses all the squares wins!

This is an ideal warm-up activity :)

It should be played in two teams. Students from different teams sit next to each other so that they can check if they mention the forbidden words while explaining. 
You can give them 30 seconds or more if you like. The other members of the same group have to guess what word their colleague is describing, and if they guess it, they get a point. The team which has more points wins.

TABOO CARDS 

This worksheet is about furniture and appliances. The answers are also included in this worksheet. You have to try to match the pictures with the words. The students can guess if they don't know what they are.

Print, laminate and use whiteboard markers to play this game - choose one object, your partner must do the same; ask yes/no questions to guess what your partner has chosen. The first person to do it is the winner.

this is a pair work. student A describes what is happening in the picture using present continous, and student B has to guess where student A is.

You can use this worksheet with children in preschool. If they can\'t read, you just delete the written part.

You can use it as an exercise or a game. In this case, the student who is the first to guess all his (her) partner\'s items is the winner.
