FAMOUS PEOPLE 2

Six mini readings to practise the present simple tense. Answer the questions, complete a true or false, supply the questions and guess who? There is a partial key included. Please note that 'everyday' is an adjective, meaning ordinary, usual, everyday, unlike 'every day' which means 'each day'. 

Mini reading passages: Everyday activities

That is an activity İ created for young learners (approx. 3rd-4th grades). It 's only focused on teaching regular verbs but could be easily edited to include irregular ones. 



Procedures	 	Time

Warm up	Start the lesson talking about superheroes and what students know about them. 	 2-3 min.

Stage 1. Presentation of vocabulary.

	Tell SS that you want to check how well they know the superheroes and show them slides asking what they see. When showing the last slide tell them that they are going to read a story about spider ask them to guess what the story will be about.	2-3 mins

 Stage 2. Reading

	SS read the text and match the gifts with the heroes. Get feedback and ask if they liked the story.	 10 min.

Stage 3. Grammar	Focus SS on colourful words in the text and elicit past forms. Then, work out the rule with the students. 

(Adding –ed to the verb). Check they understand we double ‘p’ in ‘stopped’. You can check again making chain activity by saying verb and the next person says the past form.



	 5 min.

Stage 4. Controlled practice.

(Fill in the gaps)

 	Focus SS on the pictures and sentences. Elicit first one. SS work alone or in pairs writing the sentences. Check with the whole class.	 5 min.

 Stage 5. Freer practice

Playing mime game ‘guess what İ did yesterday’.	Demonstrate the game by miming some actions (for example ‘laughing’) Ask ‘what did I do yesterday’ and elicit You laughed. Students then come in turns in front of the class miming different actions and others trying to guess.

	 10 min.

Follow up and homework	 SS write about a day of their favourite character.

Fun communication activity, designed to get your pupils talking. Mine loved it! Listening to information to guess who is being talked about. Giving information about someone. Asking information to guess who the person is. Answering using short answers. Practising the verb to be, present tense, 3rd person singular. Positive/Negative/interrogative forms. Easy vocabulary.

Who is it? Communication game

Each student receives a card that consists of three pictures - two people they have to find and one person that they know. Their task is to describe the pictures they have and to find someone who has these people and who knows the information about them. The first student who finds full information is the winner!

Guessing game Appearance

This worksheet concentrates more on non native speakers (Specially Japanese) to use phrases such as "Would you like.." 
This work sheet can be used for pair work in class where the partner guess what his opponent would like to have.
You have to first select your items and mark in the circle given the box.
The one who would guess the most things will be the winner.
One person can guess for five times using "Would you like..?"

Guess which animal

 I designed this game for a class of 5 teenagers. People pick a random name. They do not look at it. The name is then attached to their back with some sellotape or to their forehead with an elastic or other. The rest of the class CAN see the name, of course if the name is behind the back make sure the student is standing with their back facing the class. The person then has to ask the rest of the class yes or no questions concerning the appearence of the person whose name they picked, in order to guess who the character is. Questions can range from "am I tall/short/a male/a female" to "Am I real/am I alive/dead" etc. The worksheet is editable so you can add as many names as you need for your class or adapt them to the level of the students or to the culture of the country you teach in. Hope this can be useful! :)

A pair work activity in which you give each student a set of definitions ( there are TWO sets of DIFFERENT definitions they read the definitions  and the other has to guess the name of the job in a definite time, the winner is the one who has most anwsers

A fun activity to get Ss moving and talking. With one sheet each, they get up and walk around the classroom asking questions about their classmates' physical appearance and fill in the table. As an extension, Ss could play a variation of 'guess who' using their information on their tables where they read out what they have written and other ss have to guess who it is. 

Describe your friends - class survey

this is a game where students guess the job from the description. Student reads one sentence if another student guesses correctly it's 3 points, 2 points if guessed on 2nd sentence and 1 point for last sentence.
