The objective of this lesson is to introduce vocabulary about hobbies.

We can use the first 2:40 minutes of an online video (link provided on the handout) to work with listening comprehension. We then think about the grammar and how to construct sentences. The differentiation can be done  by choosing the type of sentences according to the learner's abilities.

Vocabulary. Hobbies. 

Use a dictionary and translate with students. Then dictate, they listen and repeat. Excellent for studying at home. Use for word tests. :)

My hobby

After drawing their hobby, the children go to the board and talk about it. The worksheet can be followed by the questions "What color is..?" "On what day do you go /dancing/?"

My Hobby

This is a worksheet for students who are in grade 1 or 2 and learning about hobby vocabulary. It also focuses on grammar. I hope you will find this worksheet useful!

MY HOBBIES

A game of chance in which each player has one or more cards  with different picture squares on which to place markers when the respective pictures are drawn and announced by a caller. The first player to mark a complete row or other pattern of pictures is the winner.

With this guided writing activity students practise the structure "I like doing" and Present Simple. They also use hobby-related vocabulary and adverbs of frequency. Finally, they practise the structure "I like ..., because... ."
