Returning to Hogwarts! 

A letter to welcome your students to Hogwarts School.It is simply made but rather efficient. I hope your students will enjoy it as much as mine do. 

I suggest sorting your students into the four houses at the start of the year to implement a strong sense of sportsmanship in the group which can be furthered by counting points and offering rewards if you feel like it!

A typical day at Hogwarts

This is a reading activity in groups on the topic of Hogwarts' four houses.

Divide your class into 4 groups, hand them out one of the four worksheets to read (they can choose their house) + the last worksheet to complete.

Each group can present their house at the end of the activity.

This worksheet helps students to understand some confusing words together with suffixes and unknown words. They will also have a listening activity. They will enjoy by learning new things. 

HOGWARTS LEGACY LISTENING AND VOCABULARY

The sorting ceremony from Harry Potter is something extremely fun to do. To proceed, since I don't have the hat, I use little pieces of paper in a bowl and I use a pointy hat such as the sorting hat in Harry Potter. The kids take their pick and they get a certificate which they stick in their notebook.

After that, you can do a little matching exercise to identify the vocab on the certificates (lower levels).

For the second task, students as asked to describe a photograph they have stored on their phone or computer as appropriate. They are asked to write descriptive sentences to describe the image. If you have the means available, their images can be printed and glued to the worksheet.


This activity can be used for any level student, you can prompt them with questions to use any target language you are studying.
