Travelling

This student- friendly worksheet was prepared for my students to take a mock CAE test in use of English. It is a multiple choice exercise.  The text deals with the best hotel on an island...holiday theme- because it's holiday time! The key is included.

TELEPHONE - booking a hotel room

This is a lesson plan I've made for my teacher training final exam.

The lesson plan is divided into two lessons. In the first one, students will be introduced to must and mustn’t. They will watch a video with which they will practise either classroom language and using must and mustn’t to talk about rules, and either write rules for their ideal teacher. In the second lesson, students will be introduced to have to and its negative and interrogative forms. They will listen to a track about foreign cultural habits and daily routines, and read the text related. They will then play a 20 questions game and write rules for a hotel. This last lesson will help students review vocabulary about tourism, and develop their intercultural awareness.

This is the exam I´ve prepared for my students of hotel and tourism industry. It´s based on the material from the book "English for International Tourism" pre-intermediate. There´s lots of grammar practice in the first part. The second part includes vocabulary mainly from the area of travelling and hotels - but it might be suitable for teaching the "holidays vocabulary". Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
