This worksheet was used for grade 6 ESL students to practice spelling words describing an illness.

I have mixed up the letters and the students are to correct the letters, so that the illness matches the picture next to it.

A selection of role play cards set out in 4 sections (symptoms, ailment, how, treatment), divided between a patient who is ill and a medical professional (doctor, nurse, dentist or pharmacist).



Ailments/illnesses include chicken pox, flu, infected piercing, scratch, migraine, allergy, broken rib and broken wrist. 



In pairs students must play either the patient or proffessional and ask each other questions (what symptoms do you have? How did it happen? What treatment do you recommend?) and give answers using the card to guide them.

This is a speaking activity for young learners to practice their knowledge on illnesses. While practicing they will make sentences using if clause and should. It can be played as doctor and patient game

If clause speaking activity on Illnesses

In this activity, students practice the use of have got and has got. Also, students learn new vocabulary about illnesses and practise giving a piece of advice using the word "should" in order to help other people that have those illnesses.

Have got and Has got + Vocabulary: Illnesses

One person is the doctor, the other is the patient. The patient choses an illness in their head. The doctor has to guess the illness based on the patient's symptoms using modal verbs of deduction. Once the doctor has identified the likely illness, the doctor might provide advice about how the patient can cure their illness or reduce their symptoms.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
