Country information gap sheets using non-gradable (strong/extreme) adjectives. Useful for classes on travel, tourism, geography, or countries. If you have students who enjoy reading about royals you can use this classic information gap.



In order to find the required information they have to use the correct question word and make questions in the past simple. Depending on their level they will need more or less pre-teaching / revising before they do the activity. If they are insecure they may also write their questions before they do the activity.

A information gap reading for Pre-Intermediate students using present and past simple and present perfect. Activity involves all four skills.

Divide students into A and B groups. Groups work together. They READ the text and WRITE their 7 sentences on their sheets. Once completed, teacher then matches A and B students in pairs and they ASK and ANSWER each other's questions and WRITE answers in their sheets.

Reading: Information gap (Pre-intermediate)

This is an activity for 2 people, where one asks a question mentioning an object from below the picture, while the other has to describe its placement in the picture. 

Classroom (school objects) information gap

Students will learn the phrases on making invitation and request by completing the information gap. Students will assign role as A or B and take turns to fill in the gaps. Then, students will role play the dialogue and identify/classify the phrases and make sentences on their own.

A colourful information gap activity for elementary students, that gives them practice speaking, listening and writing the PRESENT CONTINUOUS form. The activity also gives them practice with pronouns and is/are.



Suggested procedure

Cut the A4 worksheet into As and Bs. Split the class into As and Bs and let them decide on what the people in the pictures are doing. Monitor and shape language - once they can describe what the people are doing, match A and B students into pairs. Instruct students to ask, answer and write present continuous statements about what the people are doing.

Information gap: present continuous Q & A

Information gap activity. Speaking. Focus on the time, places, verb to be in the past.

Students have to fill in their chart with information that other classmates have in their photocopies. There are 3 different types of photocopy, each of them with different information that is useful for other students.

There are four choices of answers for each blank in the text either in a single word, a phrase or a clause. The answers involve grammar forms of nouns, verbs, modals and pronouns. Choose the most correct answer for each blank. There are 22 blanks in the text. Compare your answer with your partner and identify the meaning and type of target form.
