This is a worksheet which uses the story of the Chinese Zodiac to present ordinal numbers to Elementary students. 



Tips:



Before you begin Ex.2, and read the story, you may wish to pre-teach: ride, reach, scare, shore, emperor, push and sleepy.



Depending on where you are teaching, your students may already be familiar with the order of the animals. If so, elicit the animal names and the order then ask them to find and underline the ordinal numbers. 



The ordinals have a lot of difficult sounds such as '-th' and consonant clusters. When you drill the words after Ex.2, break down the words i.e "SI" - "XTH" -  "SI-XTH" - "SIXTH".



As an optional extension task, you could get the students to quiz each other i.e "Which animal was fourth?", "Which place was the snake?", "Who was before the sheep?" etc.

Allows students to use guided terms as well as own vocabulary. 

Before working on these worksheets, give students examples on a board or PPT and work together with them. Use this while teaching Simple Present "Do or Does" yes or no questions.



Have students review what are the reasons we use do vs. does and why they don't use Am/Is/Are.



I also teach phonics and simple sentence phrases.

In this worksheet we review the Soft G /j/ and Hard G /g/ sounds. I also have the students write sentences "I get (adjective) when (fill in blank)." 



Have fun with this worksheet. I use my review sheets for the end of the week. So this worksheet will work well after teaching these topics separately but in one week.

This is a worksheet to present and practice the main different plural forms (-s, -es, irregular) and their pronunciation. Students write the plurals, categorise them according to the sound they make and try to think of some more of their own.



Tips

You may wish to brainstorm animal vocabulary as a lead into the worksheet.



Don't worry if you struggle to hear the difference between the /s/ and /z/ sounds. Sometimes it can be quite subtle. 



For your own reference, words ending with a voiced consonant (b, d, g, j, l m, n, ng, r, v, r, y, z) take a /z/ sound and words ending with an unvoiced consonants (k, p, s, t) take a /s/ sound.
