Words with long a sound - aihave your students read through the sentences and fill in the spaces using the 'ai' words from the word bank. This resource will help children read and spell words with the long vowel a sound. We use 'ai' in the middle of words including train, rain, paint, grain, wait, tail, waist, etc. What is a cloze activity? A cloze worksheet is a useful activity to improve a child's reading comprehension and grammar skills. Words are removed from the text for students to fill in as an exercise in reading comprehension. After explaining the long vowel e (ee, ea) you can use this sheet for more exercises. 

It has 3 exercises, choose the correct word to make sure they understood the words, making sentences for more freedom, and finally a reading text to make sure they can pronounce the words in the correct way. 

I recommend teaching the ee, ea words ahead before using this exercise sheet for better results. You'll find it uploaded.

It's a set of dice as the title suggests. These are smaller dice than my other similar upload. They are meant for beginners learning the few rules of reading English.

It is a boardgame for students learning long vowels.

Put 2-4 students in a group. Each student rolls the dice and moves their game piece the same number of spaces. Once land on a space, he/she should read out loud the word.

Allow students to recognize the difference between long vowel and short vowel sounds. The teacher can read the words as the students determine which is being asked for.

Short Vowel Sounds

Print these onto heavy paper and use them to teach short & long vowels. You can have students sort them, group rhyming words, split out the short from the long vowels and read them separately, or read short-long/short-long etc. You can use them to explain different rules that force vowels to be short or long, etc.
