A simple exercise to introduce the Christmas Menu for children.

Christmas Food Vocabulary

Students read about the story of Thanksgiving and they plan their own Thanksgiving dinner (preparation, menu, thank-you notes for their guests...) using structures such as There is/are, There isn't/aren't, a/an, some, any, etc, and the vocabulary about food and utensils (that they should know from before).



The idea is that they can really carry out this project in real life and show how good cooks and thankful people they are! :)



I have uploaded a PPT version so that anyone can change anything in order to adapt it to the students' needs and interests.

Plan your THANKSGIVING DINNER

A role play activity to practice restaurant vocabulary, and also to revise the usage of "some" and "any". You will also need pictures of some of the food and drink on the menu (google image search).



Your students will be working in pairs (waiter/waitress and customer); each pair will need a menu and some pictures of food. Before you start, you'll need to put crosses next to some of the items on the menu, to indicate that the restaurant doesn't have any left. The customer asks the waiter (who has the menu) for the food in the pictures they've been given, and the waiter has to tell the customer when there isn't any left, and propose something else instead.



I did this activity with a class of adults and people seemed to find it fun. Hope it helps. :)

Pupils have to cut and stick some food in the menu paper to create their own restaurant! They could write the words next to the picture and colour them according to the teacher's explanations.

This worksheet is designed to promote students' speaking and listening skills. Students will listen to a typical conversation between a waiter/waitress and customer trying to order at an American diner, answer questions based on the dialogue, and practice a truncated version with a partner.
