The students are supposed to give tips by using modal auxiliaries. For exemple thay have to use modals to express lack of necessity or advisability. I tried to use modals in a differnt way.

This is a summary of modal auxiliary verbs. There's always an example to illustrate the meaning of each modal verb.

Picture description oral activity and gapfill task for pre-intermediate and intermediate learners of English as a second language based on a cartoon depecting a marriage scene. 



You can have pairs of students take a try all on their own to describe the scene in speaking. You can collect a few ideas with the whole class after the first round. There are also some ideas included in the worksheet. Then you can repeat the task.



Then you can do the gapfill task with the students: they have to choose the right answer from 4 options. Grammar topics: past modals, present simple and present continuous. State verbs, like "seem". The gapfill task will also teach students a bunch of useful vocabulary to describe this particular scene and also for general picture description. KEY included for the gapfill exercise.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
