Let me introduce myself

Here is a worksheet I created for my ESL students.  It worked well for beginning conversation students from kindergarten to primary 3.  Hopefully it will be as useful to you as it was for me.

This reading comprehension sheds light on a person introducing herself to give my ESOL learners the practice they need to be able to introduce themselves. Two activities follow the passage to reinforce their understanding.

Introducing myself and someone

Reading Comprehension + writing+ speaking: Once the students have filled the form in, they may introduce themselves to the rest of the class or to their friends( pair work!

This creative activity is fun! Teacher should cut out the icons on the first page and give them to the students. Students have to choose any icons, complete and stick them to their sheets. Children can show their creativity compiling the icons and drawing in their sheets. 

The students have to write a poem to introduce themselves ( likes, abilities, obligations etc) with the help of an example and of prompts

In this worksheet, the student will read an introduction, learn vocabulary and answer questions. Personal pronouns, basic verbs, values, and adjectives are used to introduce myself. On the right hand of the worksheet, students will find a vocabulary list.

Reading Activity Introducing myself

The small text about a boy, where he can put small details about his appearance and personality. There is a picture of a boy, which should be translated due to the text (a self-portrait). Also, I put a few "Hobbies" and "Clothes" words, that can be used in the spaces. A good variant for the first lesson.

Learners taking the B2 Upper-intermediate exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization.</li><li>Interact with fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without difficulty for either party.</li><li>Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain an opinion on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.</li><li>Main grammar points to know: perfect tenses, mixed conditionals, modals in the present, phrasal verbs, reported speech, wish, relative clauses</li></ul>

The level where you can be a tour guide for your foreign friends and talk about a lot of topics, even abstract ones, with ease and fluency

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
