A series of tasks based on the movie. Mean Girls is a 2004 American teen comedy film directed by Mark Waters. The screenplay was written by Tina Fey and is based in part on the non-fiction book Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman, which describes how female high school social cliques operate and the effect they can have on girls. The film stars Lindsay Lohan and features a supporting cast of Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, (in her film debut), and Lizzy Caplan. The film is produced by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels.

This is a text to English Second Language Students, which don't know the origen from Halloween. In this text it also explains a little about the habits and games played at this night.

This text can be used to explore culture, vocabulary and further discussion classes.  

HALLOWEEN

"Think-Tales 3" is a follow-up collection to Think Tales 1 and 2. The worksheet corresponds to the `This is Halloween` song from Tim Burton`S `A Nightmare Before Christmas`. There is an accompanying video lesson and Powerpoint which can be found in my uploads or here. Sorry about the weird quality- it\'s mostly screen-shotted from the original Publisher document.

1. I start with the dominoes as a warm-up and to lead-in the vocabulary. 



2. We then check the answers on the Power Point and I add extra information and drill pronunciation.



3. Students then read the questions through and watch the video, answering as they watch in groups. 



4. We then check the answers interactively by watching through the video again and tapping on the answers.

LESSON PLAN: read the story with the class. Then list this on the board:

This is a worksheet based on Eric Clapton´s song Wonderful Tonight. There are five tasks: Listen and put the pictures in the correct order, Rewrite the words in rhyming pairs, Listen and complete the lyrics, Answer the questions, and Write questions in the Present Tenses. Wonderful Tonight (song)

"Sundown," by Gordon Lightfoot:

Released in 1974, this song helped propel the Canadian artist to the top of the charts.  Lightfoot has been quiet about the story behind the song, but he gave several clues over the years.  The song is widely thought to be a story about a man whose unfaithful lover left him alone to enjoy a night on the town to meet another man, but that he is too in love with her to end their relationship.  Other rumors were that the song was about Lightfoot's first marriage, where he began to suspect his wife was having an affair.

In April 1975, Crawdaddy magazine quoted him as saying, "All it is, is a thought about a situation where someone is wondering what his lover is doing at the moment.  He doesn't quite know where she is.  He is not ready to give up on her, either, and that's about all I got to say about that."

There are rumors that "Sundown" was inspired by his girlfriend (not his wife), Cathy Smith, later more infamously known for her involvement in the drug overdose and death of actor John Belushi.  Lightfoot has commented in interviews that Cathy Smith was, "the one woman in my life who most hurt me."

As a popular folk singer in North America, Lightfoot also had several other hits, including "If You Could Read My Mind," and "The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald."


Another note:

"When I get feeling better when I'm feelin' no pain," is a reference to his struggles with alcoholism.

Reading/ filling gaps exercise, advanced. I created it to use with other materials on art. It's about Marina Abramovic's performance "The Artist Is Present". Firstly you should introduce Marina, I always tell my students about her previous performances, which are very interesting.
