A short light-hearted account of an unfortunate event. A lady visits the optician and disrespects the very frame that the assistant is wearing. Embarrassing! They have to do the true or false and then answer the comprehension questions.

Screen time has its pros and cons. This worksheet will appeal to young learners who find computer games fun. But at the expense of their immediate and future health and well-being.

Eyes, Opticians, and Screen Time

Students work in pairs, taking turns to read and to listen.
Student 1 reads first, student 2 listens and fills in the gaps.  Then the students swap.
Students need to read each part at least twice and may need to help each other by spelling difficult words.  The student who is reading must not let their partner see their paper and copy the words!

** Suggested edits
1) The teacher may want to change the place names before using this resource.  A warmer activity to help with pronouncing and spelling the place names could be for the teacher to show images of different places and ask leaners to identify the places and spell them.
2) The teacher may also want to change the job words if students are not familiar with electrician and optician.    If you do that, you should also change the images.

Present Simple Practice

I've been asked to teach English to a group of Optometrists and Opticians...In order to make the lessons more fun (the topic might be boring itself, at least in my opinion!), I've created some flashcards (using crambridgeenglishonline.com) which display some optometry vocabulary. My idea is to use them for matching word/definition games. 

Words: symptom, Double vision, The cornea, Myopia, Cataract, Astigmatism, Dry Eye Syndrome, Glaucoma, Lazy eye, Optometrist, Pink Eye, Ophthalmologist, Multifocal lenses, Presbyopia, Bifocal lens, Hypertension. (I couldn't upload the scanned pdf file, sorry for the bad resolution)
