These handouts will help learners practice questions - they will have to ask/answer each other to fill in missin information in their copies and complete the article about an unusual sport. As an extension, I always invite the students to invent their own new sport. 

Information Gap: Pairs

Students read the statements and find out for themselves how much or how little they agree/disagree. Then they pair up and discuss the statement -maybe they can agree on the stand. Later they tell about their discussion and what they talked about.

Discussion in Pairs

Ss in pairs will pretend to be on a desert islan, and they can only take some itens. Ss ask each other and give extra informatino why they would take these itens.

Pair work interview

Some examples of homophones in English - words that sound the same but have different spellings and/or meanings. The teacher first reads out a series of homophone pairs for the students to match up, then students do a picture-guided sentence completion activity to reinforce the different meanings of the words in each pair.

Cut the sheet to make 14 pairs and play by taking turns to reveal two cards and seeing if the halves match. After that, the first sentences can be used as prompts for dialogue.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
