Aim:

The students practice with the use of do/does in questions.

For 2-4 players



Rules:

Roll a dice. The dots indicate the number of steps forward. Fulfill the sentence. (Answers are on a seperate sheet included in the file)

If you gave the wrong answer, you go back to your last spot.



Optional: Give an answer either positive or negative.





Do or does in questions

Divide students into groups. Tell the class that each group has £20,000 to spend. Try to buy as many correct sentences on the worksheet as possible. The group that has the most correct sentences wins. 



(You can also use tactics to persuade other teams to buy the incorrect ones, for example, bidding for incorrect sentences.)



Give each group one copy of this ESL worksheet. You can draw a table on the whiteboard and keep track of the money each group bids and how much they have left. 


Grammar Auction - Present Perfect vs Past Simple

There's a gap-filling exercise with 20 sentences, then they find the verbs in the past in the wordsearch and number the pictures according to the sentences. Answers on the second page, fonts embedded. I hope they have fun.

Wordsearch + Grammar Exercise - Past Simple of Irregular Verbs

A board game I created  for my B1 students.  It's for practising the past simple and the past continuous, which prove to be a bit problematic. You might want to pre-teach some vocabulary.  I included a list of words/phrases your students might not be familiar with. Hope you'll find the worksheet useful.

In this board game there are different activities and different topics. Print the board game and you can paste it in a card board. Search and take things, like a buttom or something to move your character and move it on the game.

Passive voice (Past Simple) Borad game

A small worksheet to practice common irregular verbs in the past with two games thrown in to help the students remember the forms. The answers for the first exercise are at the back. There is a bingo game and a snap game. If you are not sure how to play snap, look it up. It\'s very easy. There is an explanation on how to play the games included, just in case. 

Irregular Verb Simple Past Memory Challenge

This is a fun activity to practice Simple Past Tense (regular and irregular verbs) . Explain them what to do in detail first. Then, you can divide your students in groups of 3 or 4 and give them a dice and pawns. Have fun :)

Boardgame - Past Simple - Regular & Irregular Verbs

This is a grammar drill activity (with the past simple) that can be played with your students. You can divide the class in two groups or more and for each correct sentence (question or answer) the teams score points. The objective of the activity is to make students understand and practice the two types of questions: yes/no and information/wh questions.

If a student picks up an answer, he/she must give the question and vice versa.

Ps. Don't forget to cut the cards in advance.

Questions and Answers Game (PAST SIMPLE)

Ss ask and answer questions in both tenses using a snakes and ladders board. There are two piles of flashcards, one orange (present perfect) and one blue (past simple).

This game assumes that Ss know the proper form of the affirmative, negative, interrogative and WH question form of both the past simple and present perfect.

You must download a blank Snakes & Ladders board.

Game: past simple and present perfect?

A game for 10 students in class. Students must work out who is in front of them and who is behind them - create a queue. Each card has their present perfect and past simple sentence and sentences of people in front of them and behind them.

Present Perfect and Past Simple Queue

A board game requiring at least two players. It could be used as a warm up, at the beginning of the course but also as a review. Dice & counters needed, or a coin (head - 1, tails - 2, or the other way round).
Questions are in the simple present, simple past & present perfect.
