Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>

Get here and you are ready to study in English at university

Worksheet for (very) young learners who have just started reading. Students look at the pictures and circle the correct word. If they don´t know a word, the teacher could tell them (as this is basically a word/letter recognition exercise). Older students should be able to complete this on their own. Can also be used as a phonics reading worksheet. Most words are three-letter words (CVC consonant-vowel-consonant).

Very Young Learners - Short vowels Test

A worksheet dealing with phonetics and some of the major difficulties my students usually have (maybe the same as yours). There are 7 exercises to differentiate vowel and consonant sounds, to differentiate z and s sounds an three exercises with the ending “ed” sound of regular verbs in the past. After the students do the exercises, they’ll find the transcriptions on the second page for auto-correction. The teacher may want to check it orally after their own correction. Here's a little cvc chart for the youngsters who are just starting to read. I hope it's useful for some of you.

My own remake of the vowels sounds - inspired by jolly phonics



Read the words and point to the pictures emphasizing the vowels sounds a/e/i/u/o.



The children look at the picture box. Say the word box ask the children to listen out or the /o/ sound.

Point out that in the line of short vowels above the picture the /o/ has been circled.



The children look at the rest of the pictures and say the words for them circling the short vowel above. Also write down the words under neath the pictures. The last picture has 2 vowel sounds see if your children can pick them up!



Finally a word search containing 4 of each vowel sound to find.

You can have students sort them, group rhyming words, split out the short from the long vowels and read them separately, or read short-long/short-long etc. You can use them to explain different rules that force vowels to be short or long, etc.

Vowels and labeling

A fun way for young learners to learn phonics and express likes. My Grade 1 primary students find it easy to associate the initial sounds with the fruit, as fruits are easy to learn. They can also choose their favourite fruit and draw a picture to express themselves.
