Phrasal Verbs - particularly with 'GIVE' : Part 3 (Song)

Another set of phrasal verb worksheets, this time with the preposition "up" and on the subject of technical problems and repairs. As always, there is a mix-and-match section which can be consolidated with a game of bingo before doing the gap-fill section. This is consolidated further with a story that is related in some way to the theme and then there is a debate that is related in some way to the story. There is also a mock part four of the Reading and Use of English section of the FCE exam which can be used a week or two later to jog the students' memories. Useful for engineers, mechanics, fitters, IT technicians, builders, architects etc. Answers are at the back.

Phrasal Verbs with Up - Technical Problems and Repairs

A small worksheet to look at phrasal verbs in the context of songs. This is a famous 1982 song by the British group, Madness. There are 7 phrasal verbs in context and the link to the youtube video is provided at the bottom of the sheet. Answers are on the back. After we play the song and do the exercise, I usually get them to give examples using the phrasal verbs and then get them to aks each other questions for additional practice.

This is a very old worksheet of mine that I have used time and time again. Be aware that there is mention of swearing, homophobia, drinking alcohol and violence so, not for children. However, the worksheet has always gone down well the students and they always seem to remember the phrasal verbs later. Answers are at the end.
