A WS to wrap up a topic on Indians. Three different exercise that will challenge the student on vocabulary learnt and some grammar.

This is an extract from a newspaper article about our new Pope. Students are supposed to put the verbs in brackets into the correct tense and fill in the gaps with suitable words.

Vocabulary and discussion on pick-up lines

Instead of what to say, this is a what not to say material where i collected some corny funny pick-up lines on line. THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN!! It works fine with my adult students.

you pick a random country and you speak for 2 or 3 minutes about who you are, you have to imagine yourself living in another country and talk about your culture and your lifestyle. Say what is different, what is similiar, what you like and dislike about where you live.

Emilia de Poret's "Pick me up"

This is a simple exercise. Print out the list of actions. Cut the words out into individual pieces of paper and fold them in half. Either place the words into a bag and have students choose an action and then move or alternatatively, have students stand in a circle, give 5 pieces of paper to random students and have them pass the paper. When the music stops, the students holding the paper must read it and perform the action.

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
