Lemon Tree Song - Present Continuous Worksheet

This is a board game for past simple, present simple, present continuous and future (will+going to). This activity should take around 20 minutes or more to complete. 



Make sure you spend enough time remembering these tenses with your students before the game. Write down some sentences and elicit the structure in each tense (e.g. Pres. Simple - subject + verb (bare infinitive) + object...), elicit students' examples in the same tense. Leave all of this information on the board so that ss can quickly go back to it and build correct sentences.



If you land on a square that is touching a snake's tail, you must answer questions on both ends and go back to the tile touching the head.



Choose a 6-side dice for a quicker game, esp. if you have many participants, and a coin for more answers and longer game.

Tenses Board Game

This material can be used as a revision of present simple and continuous questions. It is a pair work. They ask about the missing information. The first word of the question is given, to make it easier. Second page is for teachers to make more copies and last page is solution. With weaker students I make group of A students and a group of B students. They prepare the questions together, then find a pair and have conversation.

FINAL TEST (A2 )

I am a great fan of Lanterfish www.bogglesworld.com and their reading packets. I used their concept to build sentences in the present tense (simple and continuous). The object of these cards is to build the sentences and so work out how to use the two tenses. These cards are meant as drill activities. The idea is to print out, cut out and then lay out the cards so they can be sorted into sentences. I hope it works for you.

Building Present Sentences

Note: Hotdog, or Hot dog - it can be written either way - is an exclamation mainly in American English, to express surprise. It is a delicious snack as well, of course! Here is another of my silly stories with a twist in the tale. In this one, a lady is looking forward to biting into her hotdog, but she trips over a kerb and the sausage goes flying. A bit of present continuous, but mainly past simple tense. Model answers provided.
