A selection of English ESL present simple printables

This game can be used to practise present tenses: Present Simple, Present Continuous and Present Perfect. The rules are similar to a regular game of Ludo - the only difference is that when you counter lands on a new square, you must make a proper sentence using one of the present tenses e.g. I always watch TV, I don't watch TV, Are you watching TV now? etc. The squares have been color-coded to help students choose the proper tense.

Ludo - present tenses

This is a worksheet with twenty fill in exercises. The students have to complete the sentences with the right verb tense (past simple or present perfect). I always ask the students to underline the expressions that helped him to decide. The topic is holidays.

PAST SIMPLE OR PRESENT PERFECT?

Identifying actions and asking and answering questions about your own and your friends abilities. The students tick the box in either column 1 or 2 for themselves, whether they can perform the action or not in the corresponding picture. They ask one of their friends and tick the boxes in columns 3 or 4. e.g. "Can you swim?" if the answer is "Yes, I can." They tick the box in column 3.

What Can You Do?

ss have to read the texts and find: adverbs, verbs( present simple,  present continuous,present perfect), connectors and examples of passive voice. they have to write the colour next to the noun, the complany that uses that colour and the correspondiing adjective. answer questions, and turn the sentences into passive voice

Second part to Present Simple affirmative.  Third person singular. This worksheet was created to help beginner students at the time simple present is taught. I believe in the old fashioned "drills" as a teaching tool. This would be an example. My students are adults who come to class after a work shift in a manufacturing plant. They have very limited vocabulary and struggle quite a bit learning a foreign language.  I try to adapt explanations to their skill level even though sometimes they are not very academic.

Template that can be used to have students make their own set of questions. Encourage students to be as creative as possible, but make sure questions are grammatically correct. Identical questions shouldn't be allowed in pairs.
