Alphabet Pronunciation

This game is designed for elementary level, to introduce students to some basic English vowels. Teachers first list the vowels on the board and demonstrate how they sound. Then students practice as a whole class for a few time. After that, in pairs, they are given the worksheet for more practice. 

Pronunciation game

This worksheet is loaded with examples of words that contain the /v/ sound, including minimal pairs, challenging words, phrases, and a reading exercise.  This is a great pronunciation exercise particularly with those languages that have trouble with the /v/ sound (Russian and Slavic languages as well as Spanish-speakers)

Pronunciation: /v/

A good practise activity for different, easily muddled sounds.  This one has /i/ and /i:/ but it can be adapted for any sounds that your learners may mix up (eg l/r or s/sh)

Pronunciation focus

I made this specifically with my Japanese students in mind, but it can easily enough be adapted or changed.  This lists a few sounds that my students have difficulty with and talks about how to correctly say the sounds.

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
