You will find a list of questions in the 2nd Conditional associated with all decks of French playing cards. Ss pick cards randomly, and ask and asnwer them in pairs. Some of them will make them think about deeper matters. They can be used well at Pre-intermediate level, too. 

Speaking game to practise 2nd CONDITIONAL with French cards

This worksheet presents some animals (real pictures) so the students can get familiarized with new content/vocabulary. Great for students who want to expand their vocabulary. It can be also be used for dictation exercises as well as writing / oral practice. If you have a higher-level group of students, this worksheet can also be used as a little game, e.g. giving animals adjectives (tall giraffe, angry lion, cute rabbit, etc..)

Play Go Fish card game with the Incredibles Family vocabulary. The idea is that each player has 5 random cards and have to complete a set (a complete incredible family). To swap cards they have to ask the person on their left for the card they need. If the person has it they have to give it to them and if the person doesn't the asker has to 'Go fish' in the pile.

Two tasks, there are ten sentences in Active Voice in each. The students need to turn the sentences into Passive Voice. The first exercise contains Past Simple sentences and Crimes vocabulary. The second exercise contains Present Simple sentences that are random interesting facts.

This worksheet presents some pictures of vegetables (real pictures) so the students can get familiarized with new content/vocabulary. Great for students who want to expand their vocabulary. It can be also be used for dictation exercises as well as writing / oral practice. If you have a higher-level group of students, this worksheet can also be used as a little game, e.g. the teacher can ask "what's your favorite food/vegetable?" / "Have you ever tried (vegetable)?" etc..

This worksheet can be a fun activity for the students when they're working in pairs or groups. The students are to continue the story that's started in the worksheet by using at least 5 of the random words I wrote and go on with their own vocabulary, maybe getting a little help from a dictionary. I normally ask my students some random questions before starting the lesson, such as "What's your favourite colour?", "What food do you hate?" and so on and write them on the board as the words they have to use in the story. In the end, the stories always turn out to be super funny, of course a little ridiculous but very creative. I hope you will have fun with your classes too! Have a nice day!

Creative Christmas Writing

This is a simple game and drill exercise to be played in pairs, to ask and answer 'where' questions. Each student receives one worksheet and one random 'secret picture card' (Before the lesson print the secret picture card sheets, cut them out, and shuffle them up). The students can glue or tape the 'secret picture card' onto the 'secret area' of their worksheet.

The student then has to find a partner and write their name in one of the three boxes on their worksheet. The students then alternate asking each other 'where' questions; "Where is the cat?", "Where is the apple?", and answering; "It's on the table", "It's by the tree", using their 'secret picture card' to answer the questions. When their friend answers, the student can then label the picture on their worksheet, by drawing a picture, writing the word ('cat', for example), or writing the number that corresponds to each of the five objects. When they have asked each other all five questions, they can compare their 'secret picture cards' and worksheet pictures to make sure that they match.

Here is another list of questions I use for my adults. They are random questions neither here nor there and some are unrelated to each other. I thought it was okay and useful. 

General Conversation Questions 

There are two kinds of handouts (A and B) and two short stories 



First students write random answers for various topics. 

Then they copy those answers into the short story to complete the story. 

They can work in same pairs to think of answers (A/A, B/B)



Then they make A/B pairs and read their stories to each other.

 

They can read the story sentence by sentence and pause to let their partner translate each sentence into their native language. This is to make sure they understand. 



This handout includes some Japanese translations.





I first read these stories online (I can't remember where!). I edited both stories a lot (for example, in The Pets there was was originally 1 pet) but the gist is still very similar. 

Halloween short stories 

This is a sample of a random act of kindness. Is it an urban legend or a true story, could be either! Various exercises - T/F, questions, match-up. A key is provided. 

past simple tense with a short passage

Hand out the sheets randomly so that students have different animals than their neighbors. Have them individually read about their animals and then answer the questions about them. After, have them stand up and move around the room looking for partners with animals other than their own. They will compare animals and finally attempt to defend their animal on why it would win in a fight with their partner's animal. They are not allowed to copy or look at their partner's sheet, only speak about it.
