Easy reading - The front desk receptionist

Dialogue between a hotel receptionist and a person making an enquiry over the telephone and then booking a room.  Good for giviing information, spelling and saying numbers.  

Booking a hotel room

These worksheets are designed to help students learn/revise hotel related vocabulary and key phrases used when booking a hotel room. Students match the types of room and items to the pictures, then fill in the gaps in the conversation between a receptionist and a person booking a room (this was adapted from an excellent worksheet posted by Marg https://en.islcollective.com/english-esl-worksheets/grammar/questions-interrogative/making-enquiries-and-booking-hotel-accommodation/9203 (I hope that\'s okay!) 



After that, students design an advertisement for their own hotel, then repeat the previous conversation using their self-designed hotels as the basis for the booking role play.

This Resource includes an almost complete list of the possible expressions and questions used at the doctors office between the doctor, the receptionist, and the patient. It includes useful language for reserving an appointment, talking about your symptoms to the doctor, receiving treatment or advice from the doctor, receiving prescriptions, and more. This list could be used for various class activities like Speaking drills, role-play activities, writing dialogues, or scripts. And is rather useful for those who aim to improve their day-to-day conversations in English.

In this worksheet the pupil will find some types of accommodation  presented in a matching exercise .The learner is asked to label  pictures in the third activity .He is required to reorder words to get the definition of a hostel.The fifth task is a gap filling task comparing an inn to a hotel and finally reorder a conversation between a customer and a hotel receptionist.

Cut out the cards and divide them into “hotel cards” and “guest cards.”



On a board make a mind map of the kinds of questions guests and receptionists would ask each other.



Give a guest card to one student and a hotel card to another.



The student with the hotel card is the receptionist and must answer a ringing phone.



The student with the guest card must ask relevant questions while the receptionist must answer the questions while asking for the appropriate details.



Take notes of any structure, pronunciation, grammar and intonation problems and then address them when the exercise is over. 



Hotel Reservation

Listen to and read a phone call conversation between the caller and the receptionist. I've included the audio link in the worksheet. This listening activity also includes a text complexion, a jumbled conversation (which can be cut up for ss to rearrange), and questions based on the conversation. Enjoy!!
