Writing a recount for your last birthday party

Recount

A 112 word recount. Cut each line separately, and students must put the lines in the correct order to make the story. I usually laminate them for longevity.

This is a recount writing frame that can help students to compose their own holiday recount text.

Holiday Recount Frame

Students can write or circle what activities done on the holidays. Will suit special needs students or lower elementary. Pictures can be changed to the local area.

Holiday writing simple recount

Students will write about their holiday or weekend by filling in the rest of the sentences. There is also a journal worksheet where they can circle or highlight correct day, month etc. There are visuals for those students that need them.

A recount of my birthday party

A person recounts her visit to London. There is a reading passage and some images to talk about. They have to answer the questions and discuss the images. Full key provided.

A young boy recounts a scary experience when he went camping the the Scouts. They choose a verb and put it into the past simple tense. Then they answer the questions in full sentences. There is a full key provided,

A recount in the first person using simple past verbs. Followed by various exercises to re-inforce the vocabulary used in the reading. Includes a question forming exercise, a crossword puzzle and a Wordsearch. Good for vocabulary building. Editable. 

A Surprise Birthday Party

A recount of the fable, the Hare and the Tortoise in which the students have to fill in the verb in the past tense. Practises both regular and irregular verbs in the past tense.

The students read the passages, which are on topics of general interest. Then, they choose the right word in the brackets. After that, they can try and recount the passages. A full key is provided.

A lady recounts her visit to McDonald's. A short passage with a true or false exercise and some comprehension questions. There is an opportunity to discuss fast food and McDonald's. Answers provided.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
