Rent a house

This gives learners the basics for renting a house or flat, it introduces them to the vocabulary and reinforces the vocabulary by means of role play, crossword and questions etc.

RENTING A HOUSE/FLAT

The students have to listen to the audio and then answer true or false questions about it. They also have to find synonyms for some words.There are also open questions the students have to answer in full sentences.

This is a set of 12 posters for covering vocabulary for buying and renting a home. 

I asked my students to find key information on the posters. 

I also asked them to pick one that they would buy/rent for a speaking activity. 

You can change the questions you ask for the level of the SS so therefore it is a task that can be used with different levels/classes of SS.

Renting a flat - useful phrases

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
