A writing task which encourages learners to write about their favourite restaurant.  Prompts are provided to help with content, such as where it is, what is sells, what it looks like and  pricing. Learners will also explain why they like it and what their favourite dishes are when they go there.

Students design a restaurant menu with 2 starters, mains and desserts, they must name the dishes, draw them and write descriptions, and design a menu heading. 

I ran this as a class competition individual project but you could always do it in groups or as homework.

Role-play activity in which learners have to play the roles of customer and waiter at a Spanish restaurant. Menu included with some dishes and prices to practice with. Suitable for elementary or high school students.

Pupils will discover practice sentences for ordering food in a restaurant to help them prepare their own dialogue. A sample menu allows them to practice in pairs playing customer and waiter.

them are similar: they have tables, chairs, servers, customers

and food. But some are very different!

This roleplay can be useful to practices vocabulary about food and restaurants at the same time has vocabulary and phrases for an A1 English student, mostly focused on simple present tense.

You can changes the names by the name of your students, the names that appers in the document are just an example.

ORDERING FOOD AT A RESTAURANT

I´ve created this menu so that though the students have half the work done (as the different parts on a menu are already present),the hard part must be done by themselves, as they are the ones to decide which meals their restaurants will be offering (prices included!!)This have been thought for pair or group work. Divide students into pairs. Give student  A a blue card and student B a red card. They have to ask how much the diffent food cost.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
