This worksheet is useful to check if children can identify the similar sounds and write down a word that rhymes . You can ask someone to read the short poem and check for pronuciation at the same time. it depends on you.

This is a rhyming words exercise to help with pronunciation of vowel sounds and recognition of the  different spellings. there are 3 matching words (one blue, one green one red). Once the children (about age 8-12 but also used with adults) I have asked the children to choose one or two sets of rhyming words and write a short poem or limerick using the vocabulary. I write an example for them e.g kitty, city, pretty

Who lived in a huge city

When she could

she wanted to look good

She thought she was ever so pretty



and then the kids write their own.

Rhyming words/Vocabulary - George Michael: Careless Whisper; The students can first listen to the song and then circle the right word while listening again. Most options are funny. Suitable for elementary class or ages 12 and older.

(with Answer Key) This worksheet is based on the song The Show Must Go On by British rock band Queen. Before listening, the students are given a number of words from the lyrics and are asked to rewrite them in rhyming pairs. Then they try to complete the lyrics using these rhyming pairs. They listen to the song and check their answers. Finally, they do a vocabulary matching exercise so that they can understand the lyrics better. I have also included a short factual text (adapted from Wikipedia), which will help Ss get a wider understanding of the song.

Match the common word that rhymes with the Christmas word.  The matching words do not all have the same spelling, so the students will not be able to tell what words rhyme just by looking at the letters!
