An activity for Shakespeare 400.  All of the phrases appear in Shakespeare plays but are still in common usage.  Students must match up the phrases to their meanings.  I've also uploaded a bingo game with these phrases.

This pair work worksheet is very useful for practicing special questions in Past Simple.  Students ask each other questions to find out some missing information in their texts. This worksheet can be also used as a speech worksheet.

William Shakespeare (Pair work)

Mind map on sonnet 18 written by the famous playwright William Shakespeare. It focuses on form, themes, symbols and setting.

Suitable especially for special needs students (mainly dislexia).

Students look at some pictures of historical people and match them to their names. Then They match them to their occupation or achievement. Later, they write sentences to tell who these people were. They follow an example: His name was William Shakespeare. He was a writer. Finally, they write about someone they admire from the past.

This is an activity to practice was / were. Students form sentences using the information given. Then they share the information with a partner, who has to write down the facts about the famous person.

Then they tell each other what they remember about Shakespeare or Henry VIII.
