In this worksheet the students should be able to connect Wh-words with possible answers in order to practice wh-questions. upper level kids can try to complete the wh-words into full questions- according to the respective answers

I used this as a warmer game for my students. I wrote all the possible family relationships on the board and gave each team a fly-swatter. I then said, e.g. "Ken is Luke's..." and the first team to swat the word "grandson" got a point. And so on....

Cut out the paragraphs and ask students to put them into the correct order when they listen to the song the first time. Then ask them to listen again and cross out the 11 extra words in the text that MJ doesn't sing.

People are like onions.

We show our best selves on the skin, hoping to get people to like us. To accept us.



We put on makeup. We dress up semi-formally. We hand out our business cards with a beaming grin. We polish our car(s). It’s these kind of “desirable” qualities that we feel completely secure about opening up to others.



But when it comes to the things that truly make us who we are, like our dreams, beliefs, feelings, emotions, thoughts, wishes and fears, we close ourselves up like a clam.



It’s not like we’d planned to be a reticent person. In fact, we’d like to trust someone to share our deepest secrets and hear out our problems.



But after years of getting hurt and taken advantage of from being too open, we’ve naturally built a wall to prevent most people from getting too close to us.



So how can we ‘innocently’ break people out of this protective shell and get them to open up to us? So we can understand their true personality and capabilities?



Ask them personal, thought-provoking questions.

Teenage Frankenstein is a song by Alice Cooper. It tells the story of a teenager who, like the monster in Mary Shelley's novel, is lonely and feels he doesn't fit in. Used sensibly, it can be good for both teens and adults. There's a different kind of activity for each verse. I think it is better to ask the students to try to solve the activities before listening. Once they have tried, they can check their answers by listening to the song.
