Students are asked to think of, or choose words from a wordbank that are similar in meanining.  There are many correct possibilities. It could be a useful dictionary or thesaurus exercise in preparation for more advanced writing, as well as aiding vocabulary development.

PETS - Matching

Let's Go is a pretty good series of books for kids up to about book 4. But after that it loses direction completely and is difficult to teach and even harder for kids to learn.



This four page Word document makes the English principles in Book 5, Unit 1 more manageable for both student and teacher. (It's also a good exercise on it's own.)



The exercise introduces a very difficult subject for kids... the dreaded UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS!



I have designed this with Thai students in mind and you may have to delete or adapt a couple of things for your students.



I'll be doing similar exercises for all the units in books 5 and 6 over the next few weeks so check by if this is something that can help you.

LET'S GO (3rd Edition) Unit 1

Maybe not for beginners. Have your students find the correct meaning of the spoonerisms. Afterwards they match each spoonerisms with the corresponding picture. Can they come up with similar spoonerisms of their own?

Let them work in pairs or groups, maybe finsh with a class discussion.
