The first day of class is usually spent in part by getting acquainted and establish goals. A funny way for students  to get to know themselves better is by asking questions in order to memorize the classmates's names as well.

Find someone who

This activity is for the whole class to do at the same time. It's a way for the students to get to know each other better, asking and answering questions.



If the students haven't already learned, it is a good idea to scaffold the students in how to ask questions . Fx "Do you have ... in your bedroom?" "Do you sleep in ...?"

This is a great song to practice simple past tense with your students. In the worksheet you will find several exercises to do while listening to the song and of course some exercises to practice past simple. enjoy it.

To review present simple: yes-no questions, short answers. 

1. Ask Ss. to find someone who (from the list) by asking:

 Do you ... (e.g. play a musical instrument) ?

2. In group check answers by giving a report: 

e.g. (Name) plays the guitar. 

e.g.(John and Peter) play the piano.

Students go around the class, asking questions and fill in the table.

Kids move around asking questions and  trying to fill in their charts with as many as names as possible. When they have finished I ask one of them what they can tell me about a classmate.

Students can ask their friends about ability. This activity is very useful for all levels.Students can walk around and ask their friends.  In the final state, students can do the actions that they got from their friends. If they can cook,students can explain how to cook.

This worksheet will encourage your students to speak. Students have to walk in the classroom and find out what his/her classmates can do and what are their qualities. The aim is to practice asking basic questions like "Do you have blue eyes?". If the answer is positive, the student should write the name of his/her classmate in the box.

Students practice transforming the phrases by asking questions to each other based on the descriptions they are given. This game allows students to move around the class, and is great as a get to know each other activity.
