A picture matching and sentence gap fill activity to practise the meaning and pronunciation of minimal pairs with 'ch' or 't' sounds at the end. Hope you find it useful.

Final 'ch' and 't' sounds - minimal pairs pictures

A worksheet to help beginners with some common words with the short 'a' and 'e' vowel sounds.  The first activity needs the vowels to be added, then match with the pictures.  The second activity is a crossword.

Watch out - there are two words with alternative spellings - head and bread.

Words with short a and e sounds worksheet

A series of picture matching and conversation practice worksheets to improve students' pronunciation of word-final consonant clusters -ft / -st. These are quite tricky for the Thai-speaking students I teach!



Each consonant cluster has two sheets to clarify the pronunciation and meaning of the words. Firstly, students match the words to the pictures - there are 5 words with the single consonant on the left, and 5 with the consonant + t on the right, to make it easier to compare the sounds side by side.



After that, there are 'find someone who' -style conversation questions using the words from the picture sheet with the key sounds highlighted, in order to remind students to pay special attention to these sounds while speaking. They are all yes/no questions, with additional space for asking follow-up questions for extra information.



It generated some good conversation today - hope you find it useful too!
