This a worksheet based on  a well-known story by Ellen Tashie Frisina. There are three activities: a multiple choice grammar cloze, T/F questions and a rephrasing activity. The story works well as a springboard for discussing family ties, immigration issues or language learning.

This is the lesson plan to go with the materials I posted related to beach lexis: the Spot the Difference Beach scene and Bingo Cards, etc.  It is adapted to fit Family and Friends 1, Unit 15.  It is designed for 6-8 year old learners.

There are 31 cards with 6 pictures of clothes items in each. There are altogether 31 words in the game. Each student takes a card and puts it in front of him. Then the teacher puts one card from the pile into the centre. The one who spots the same picture in the card and names it first gets the card from the centre. You need to get more cards to win.

An easy one for beginners of English. Spot the odd one out and say why! There might be more answers to some of the tasks.

Make the question (boardgame)

A small exercise on common idiomatic expressions. A key is provided. Great for classes on the topic of newspapers. After doing the exercise get the students to explain why those particular idioms were used for the headlines and explain the play on words. You could also get them to do a short news report on the stories in threes, one as an anchor, one as a witness/expert and the other as the on-the-spot reporter.
