An exercise in which students have to decide whether to use Present Simple or Present Continuous form.

I put this document together with the help of a certain website, whose name I now cannot remember, but it has been of a great help to me since then. The list provides a great source of stative verbs + I have also included the "ambiguous" ones + examples. It really does help students to get the notion of what stative verbs are.

This is a simple description and exercise sheet for upper intermediate/First Certificate students. It tries to explain which verbs CANNOT be used in the continuous tense. It also explores different forms of expressing your likes and dislikes

This lesson is a grammar guide to using stative verbs. Students can learn how to describe emotions and appearance. The lesson includes pictures and speaking practice activities. 

The game "two truths one lie" adapted to include stative / dynamic verbs. Can be used as an oral activity but also as written practice/for homework. Can be adapted to all levels from A1 onwards, by changing the verbs used.

Present simple and present progressive exercise with emphasis on stative verbs. Provides very good visual reference and explanations with easy to understand, yet informative, exercises.

This worksheet is created for Elementary (A1) or Pre-intermediate (A2) students. The iam is to practice understanding the difference between these two types of verbs. 

Stative vs Active Verbs

It's another grammar worksheet for young learners based on a picture story. Pupils need to put the verb in either Pr Simple or Pr Continuous form. Kids learn the difference between Action and Stative verbs. I also ask my students to tell the story, using the pictures.

Learners who can deal with both familiar and routine situations, in friendly and work contexts

Learners taking the B2 Upper-intermediate exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization.</li><li>Interact with fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without difficulty for either party.</li><li>Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain an opinion on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.</li><li>Main grammar points to know: perfect tenses, mixed conditionals, modals in the present, phrasal verbs, reported speech, wish, relative clauses</li></ul>

The level where you can be a tour guide for your foreign friends and talk about a lot of topics, even abstract ones, with ease and fluency

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
