These five short stories can be used in a myriad of ways. The first five pages are a copy of the story and some comprehension/ language focus points, with all of the stories compiled on the 6th page.

Basic short story comprehension

This worksheet is meant for very young learners in beginner level. The students should assign the sentences to the different pictures. Then they should write a suitable sentence for each picture.

Read the story about jack and the beanstalk, the underline verbs are in present, the objective is that you write them in past and also write their negative form

PAST SIMPLE STORY TELLING

Our young students can read the text, complete the missing words and learn the amazing story of Rudolph. You can do this activity after you have watched the story on youtube or ask your students to sing the famous song afterwards.

The story of Rudolph

Based on story cubes.Print out the cards double-sided, laminate and then cut them out.

Divide the class into small groups or pairs, depending on class size.

Students take it in turns to pick a card and then tell a story using no less than two sentences and no more than five.

Once that student has said their part, the pack is shuffled and passed on to the next student who then takes a card and continues the story.

If there are only two students, they need to take 3 cards each.

Groups of 6 let the cards go round once.

The last student (good idea if it’s the best student) always concludes the story.
