 This worksheet is a revision of basic structures in English: be, have got, there is/are, personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns and possessive adjectives. I have done it for my students and it is for elementary level. There is also an exercise to practise writing a short composition. There is a key too.

This is a basic worksheet for use with beginner EAL students. The idea is for the students to unscramble the simple sentences to form correctly structured sentences. 

Basic sentence structure worksheet

Learners will be able to successfully identify the basic ingriednts of a sentence. Cooking with grammar as I always say to my adult ESL learners. Subject, Verb, Object. I use the name of my learners, but feel free to replace them with names of your own students/learners.

AN ESSAY - structure & checklist

This is to practice the English sentence structure (Subject - Verb - Object - Adverb - Preposition).

Cut out the strips, then cut into pieces. Mix up the pieces of each sentence, and have students put the words in the correct order.

If students have some knowledge of English, you can practice making new sentences by replacing the words in each.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
