The "Going Away Survey Activity" is an interactive ESL group exercise focusing on travel preferences. Students form groups, draw questions from a pile about travel choices, and discuss their preferences and reasons. The activity includes steps like drawing cards, discussing in groups, noting down interesting responses, and reflecting on classmates' holiday preferences. It encourages communication, critical thinking, and learning about diverse perspectives on travel, fostering teamwork and enhancing language skills through practical application.

This worksheet has three different sheets of questions that students can use to conduct a survey - i.e. interview one to three classmates. It is both a speaking, listening and pronunciation exercise as interviewers need to speak clearly and interviewees need to listen carefully in order to ask and answer questions correctly. Make sure interviewers never show the questions to their partners and pre-teach vocabulary or adverbs of frequency if necessary (word bank with adverbs of frequency provided).

A fun activity to get Ss moving and talking. With one sheet each, they get up and walk around the classroom asking questions about their classmates' physical appearance and fill in the table. As an extension, Ss could play a variation of 'guess who' using their information on their tables where they read out what they have written and other ss have to guess who it is.
