A worksheet dealing with phonetics and some of the major difficulties my students usually have (maybe the same as yours). There are 7 exercises to differentiate vowel and consonant sounds, to differentiate z and s sounds an three exercises with the ending “ed” sound of regular verbs in the past. I teach some children who have troubles in their school English classes because they cannot read English well enough.



The objective with the dice is to get them to practice pronouncing CVC words so they learn how sounds go together and from that the spelling.



I have many activities for this, but I like using dice in class so made up this set.



You will make some nonsense words but even if you use "real" words many will not be useful to the learner for years. So, nonsense is OK.



There are two consonant dice, one for the first position and the other the last. There are two vowel dice though you only need one. (This was for my benefit.)



Cut the dice accurately so they fold up better. I glue them together but you can use tape too.

Look at the pictures. Find the words from the puzzle. Write the words in the correct column. Add three words to both columns. The key is included.

The objective of the worksheet is to revise /tʃ/ and /dʒ/. The vocabulary needs to be pre-taught. Students recognize the words with the help of the pictures and find them from the puzzle. Then they write the words into columns (depending on the sound). Students can add words into the columns depending on the sound.
