Students read the text and complete Tom's timetable. Students practise their reading and writing skills in connection to English words denoting school subjects, days of the week, telling the time.

SCHOOL TIMETABLE

These are a set of flashcards to be used as a visual timetable (picture + caption) in the classroom. Students will be able to see what the lessons for the day are, what comes next etc. The students (and I!) find it very useful, especially those that need routine. Feel free to delete and add subjects as needed. (4 pages) 

Visual Timetable

In this activity students work in pairs. They get two different timetables and start asking-answering each other, exchanging information. The worksheet also includes sample questions and answers. It's a fun way of practicing the forms of "HAVE GOT" and memorising names of school subjects.

Very good energiser/warmer. Cut out the squares and stick them all around the class. Draw a timetable on the board (the same as the handouts for the students) and drill the subjects. Explain that the times are around the room and that they need to find them and write the correct time for each subject. 

When finished they can sit down and check with each other and you can write the times on the board.

This worksheet is made for elementary students. It includes a text about peter the parrot and his timetable. It helps to practice days of the week and time expression. There are also vocabulary on daily routine and family.

Learners who can deal with both familiar and routine situations, in friendly and work contexts

Learners taking the B2 Upper-intermediate exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization.</li><li>Interact with fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without difficulty for either party.</li><li>Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain an opinion on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.</li><li>Main grammar points to know: perfect tenses, mixed conditionals, modals in the present, phrasal verbs, reported speech, wish, relative clauses</li></ul>

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
