This is part of a series of worksheets I created to teach an intensive course to a very basic student planning to travel. The idea is to get them talking and understanding as much as possible in the shortest possible time.

Holiday & travel phrasal verbs

Phrasal verb worksheet with phrasal verb explanations followed by a \'complete the sentences\' task and a quick vocabulary check task.  There is additional information on the difference between travel/trip/journey etc. Discuss/explain the phrasal verbs to your students and once they understand, get get them to complete the worksheet alone or in pairs. Intermediate + Engish level probably best.

Air Travel - Conversation flashcards

This is designed with the goal of reviewing the material of recent chapters studying in a text. The main points are language for requests, recommendations and making a schedule. It may be pre-taught or just treated as a simple real life simulation. There may also be some concepts or terms that need to be pretaught as I wanted to add a little extra to the value of this activity.



For the activity, give one student the whole Travel Agent's sheet and for the Traveller's sheet you can cut it up and distribute or you can get them to take turns doing the roles.

A worsheet to practice travel vocabulary and relative pronouns (An extra activity to use with the Macmillan Gold Experience B1 book, unit 8.) Students complete the clues using relative pronouns and guess the answers.

I give the article for homework. The next class we use the Find someone activity for a warmer, afterwards we review the article and do the gap fill, vocabulary, and questions. 


Afterwards students work with a partner or small group to complete the various activities. 


You should provide your students with some authentic travel guides for the group activity.

Traveling Agency - Role play

A small worksheet for looking at different ways of describing people's character. First the students should look at the positive and then negative adjectives. Ask them which ones could be seen as both, depending on the context. Then the students should apply the adjectives to the clients that need a holiday at an exclusive travel agent's. The client is then matched to the appropriate holiday.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
