A picture matching activity and a conversation activity to practise the different sounds of the letters W and V, using minimal pairs to help students clearly hear the difference and pronounce them correctly. Hope you find it useful!

This ESL worksheet gives students extra practice in choosing between WILL or BE GOING TO when talking about future plans in English. We use BE GOING TO when talking about a plan that has been scheduled (ex: We are going to go to the park next Friday). We use WILL for decisions IN THE MOMENT (That sounds fun, I will go with you), THINGS WE HOPE OR THINK WILL HAPPEN (I think he will come to the party/He will probably come to the party), or THINGS THAT ALWAYS HAPPEN (The Sun will come out tomorrow. Christmas will be on December 25th, etc.).



This ESL printable is not meant to teach students the rules, they will not be successful if you have not already worked on this with them. It is meant to be extra practice to improve their grammar skills.

My own remake of the vowels sounds - inspired by jolly phonics



Read the words and point to the pictures emphasizing the vowels sounds a/e/i/u/o.



The children look at the picture box. Say the word box ask the children to listen out or the /o/ sound.

Point out that in the line of short vowels above the picture the /o/ has been circled.



The children look at the rest of the pictures and say the words for them circling the short vowel above. Also write down the words under neath the pictures. The last picture has 2 vowel sounds see if your children can pick them up!



Finally a word search containing 4 of each vowel sound to find.

Good phonetics practice.  This is a story that has a lot of difficult sounds in it for many learners but especially Korean learners.  It can be used many ways, as a listening activity, running dictation, speaking activity.  Works with tricky words like day/they, rock/lock and many more.  My favorite way to use it is with as a running dictation after a lesson on many of the difficult sounds involved in the story.

Sound Like An American : Classroom Poster

Students receive a bingo grid with words on them that may sound similar - various minimal pairs. The teacher speaks in short sentences, each sentence containing one of the words on the grid. When students hear a word that is on the grid, they mark it down. First student to correctly identify enough words to make a bingo is the winner.

Rules:

Time's Up! is a charades-based party game for teams of two or more players 



In each round, team members take turns trying to get their teammates to guess as many names as possible in 30 seconds. 

In round 1, almost any kind of clue is allowed, and the cluegiver cannot pass on a card. 

In round 2, no more than one word can be used in each clue (but unlimited sounds and gestures are permitted); the cluegiver can pass on any card he likes, and the teammates can give only a single answer. 

In round 3, the cluegiver can use no words at all and can pass as often as he likes; again, teammates are allowed only a single guess.
