An activity for beginners to review jobs and verbs associated with them.

Jobs and Their Verbs

This fully editable worsheet serves as training practice on jobs. First students need to unscramble the words. Then they have to match them with the sentences. The idea is for students not only to learn/practise writing these words, but also to use them in sentences and then write their own job descriptions (they can even write descriptions for others to guess). Key and greyscale are included.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

It is used guiding the learners to depict of jobs through pictures displayed that easier to catch and train the learners speak about the jobs duties or they can create questions and respond.

The idea is to review vocabulary related to jobs. Students find the words and complete the references.  They explain what is the job, the occupation, what tasks people develops at their jobs or where people works, e.g. A teacher works in a school or A vet helps sick animals.

Another phrasal verbs project with mix-and-match, bingo and a debate thrown in for good measure. The phrasal verbs are typical when used about leadership and as such are good for business English. The story is all about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, one of the UK´s greatest engineers so, useful for engineering students, too. An answer key is provided 

Phrasal Verbs and Leadership

In pairs or small groups students take the survey and discuss what household jobs they do / don't do at home. The purpose is to revise make /do and teach vocabulary related while talking about their daily routines (present simple). Extra topics: women work, sexism, future homes, robots, etc.

HOME SURVEY

Another set of phrasal verb worksheets, this time related to work. As always, there is a mix-and-match section which can be consolidated with a game of bingo before doing the gap-fill section. This is consolidated further with a story that is related in some way to the theme and then there is a debate that is related in some way to the story. There is also a mock part four of the Reading and Use of English section of the FCE exam which can be used a week or two later to jog the students's memories. Answer are at the back.
