I teach from The Canterville Ghost written by Oscar Wilde. The Oxford University Press published a stage 2 version from it. For each chapter I made a worksheet. So if you have this book here are the exercises to Chapter 1 with the solution. You can have your ss read the book. They will like this interesting story. Mine did it. Hope you try it. I will send the exercises to the rest chapters as well.

Exercises to The Canterville Ghost Chapter 1

This listening exercise explores the history of contemporary Halloween traditions and observances, such as bonfires, jack o’lanterns, costumes and trick or treating.



Halloween is traced back to the Irish festival of Samhain - a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. 



We discuss how a holiday that is now celebrated worldwide actually started with the Irish Celts - an ancient Irish people.  Also defined as a person who speaks a Celtic language or a descendant of such a person: the Bretons, Irish, Welsh, and Highland Scots are Celts

The History Of Halloween - LISTENING

"Our culture is very bad for boys. It's bad for girls, too. It's bad for everyone. But I think we fail to recognize and appreciate the unique struggles that boys face."



The lesson uses an online opinion piece to generate discussion on gender differences between boys and girls and the struggles experienced by both during adolescence.

Margorie McCall - A woman of no major wealth, her name is now infamous with the tale of how she was buried alive.



The 1700s was a time of a "terrible famine", according to local historian Jim Conway.



He told Independent.ie how Margorie reportedly took ill, before she was pronounced dead.



Grave robbers were quick to visit her grave in the Shankill Graveyard, but got more than a shock when she woke up during the robbery.



She reportedly walked home and lived to an old age, even going on to have more children.



"Margorie McCall was reputed to have lived once but buried twice, as it says on her grave stone," Mr Conway said.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
